Daytime Emmy-winning actor Tyler Christopher has died at age 50. The soap star known for his roles on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives experienced a cardiac event at his San Diego apartment, according to reports.

Christopher portrayed Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital from 1996 to 2016. That performance won him a Daytime Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2016. He also played Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives from 2001 to 2019. His other work included roles in the ABC Family series The Lying Game and the movie Beyond the Lights. He also made appearances in JAG, CSI, Crossing Jordan, and The Twilight Zone.

Christopher’s former General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard shared the news of his death on Instagram.

“Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting,” he wrote. “Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him. Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father.”

Christopher was formerly married to Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004. The pair met while working together on General Hospital.

After his divorce from Longoria, Christopher married Brienne Pedigo in 2008. They had two children. A son, Greyson, was born in 2000. They welcomed a daughter named Boheme in 2015. The marriage lasted for a little more than a decade. Pedigo filed for divorce in 2019. The split was finalized in 2021, according to Hola.

The soap star was open about his mental health challenges

Before his death, Christopher had spoken candidly about his mental health and addiction issues.

“As a former actor on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, I have been very open about my mental health journey and my experience with anxiety and bipolar disorder, as well as my recovery from alcoholism,” he wrote in an essay for Reader’s Digest.

Christopher said that he was taking medications and seeing a psychiatrist. However, before that he had “struggled with my mental health.”

“My addiction to alcohol contributed to losing my jobs on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives—no one else is to blame,” he shared. “I suffered from delirium tremens, the most severe form of alcohol withdrawal, and almost died after falling and hitting my head on a bathtub.”

In a November 2022 Facebook post, Christopher talked about celebrating his “50th birthday in an obscure Mexican restaurant in Indiana with my two beautiful children.”

“There is no place I would have rather been than with those joyous souls,” he wrote. “To those who did not think I would make it to 50 I will share my favorite poem ‘I am the master of my fate. I am the Captain of my soul.’ The best is yet to come.”

The mother of soap star Billy Miller is speaking out about her son’s cause of death. The Young and The Restless and General Hospital alum died Sept. 15 at age 43.

Miller’s death shocked fans, who knew the actor as Billy on Young and The Restless. His role on the soap won him three Daytime Emmys. He also played Richie on All My Children and Jason/Drew on General Hospital, as well as appearing in Suits, Truth Be Told, NCIS, and other shows and movies.

In a statement shared with Today, Miller’s manager noted that he was “struggling with manic depression” when he died. In a subsequent statement shared with Soap Opera Digest, Patricia Miller addressed rumors about the soap star’s cause of death.

“He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years,” she said of her late son. “He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends, and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t.”

The death of her “beautiful son BJ” was “devastating,” Patricia said. She added that she wanted to “personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family.”

“We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss,” she added. “I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”

Chrishell Stause, Jason Thompson pay tribute to Billy Miller

After his death, many of Miller’s colleagues took to social media to share tributes to the late actor.

Chrishell Stause, who appeared with Miller on All My Children, said in an Instagram update (via Today) that she was “still processing” the news.

“Too many feelings, but you are gone way too soon,” she wrote.

Jason Thompson, who took over the role of Billy Abbott on The Young and The Restless from Miller and also worked with him on General Hospital shared his thoughts on Instagram.

“Billy was a special actor,” he wrote. “My heart goes out to his family, his friends that loves him so much, our cast mates and his many, many fans. Billy – thank you for keeping me honest. For as long as the opportunity is mine, I will forever dedicate myself to the history you built for Billy Abbott on [The Young and The Restless].”

Sheila Carter has led a reign of terror for decades on both B&B and The Young and the Restless. The supervillain just can’t seem to learn how to play nice.

As of late, Sheila has been in a brand new predicament. While Sheila has seemingly been looking to walk along the straight and narrow path, her enemies and victims aren’t ready to let her escape her past quite yet.

In an unusual matchup, Ridge Forrester and Bill Spencer have come together in recent months to take Sheila down once and for all.

However, as there always is on B&B, there’s a catch. Over the last several months, Bill has been wooing Sheila. However, in reality, this lovey-dovey scheme has all been an act on Bill’s part in the hope that Sheila will open up and confess to her past crimes.

Unfortunately for Bill, Sheila’s not so keen on his advances. While Sheila’s been living it up in the Spencer mansion with Bill, she’s also been sneaking off to hook up with her lover, Deacon Sharpe. Deacon and Sheila realize that Bill’s up to something after Bill’s agreement to tie the knot with Sheila without signing a prenup first.

According to Soaps, Bill and Sheila get into a heated argument at the mansion, ultimately leading to Sheila falling off a second-story balcony.

Sheila Carter won’t go down without a fight

While most people wouldn’t be able to get up and run after a fall from a second-story balcony, most people aren’t Sheila Carter. Sadly for Sheila, escaping the scene of the crime didn’t help her this time. After fleeing from the Spencer mansion, Bill finds Sheila in an alley and shares some choice words.

Sheila tells Bill, “I thought you loved me.” Bill cruelly responds, “You thought wrong. It would take one sick, twisted loser to love someone like you.”

Shortly after Bill’s confession and his taunting that Sheila will soon be finding herself in a jail cell, Sheila has a heart attack.

Will Sheila’s biological son save her life?

Much to Bill’s dismay, Sheila is rushed to the hospital by law enforcement and the paramedics after their exchange.

Once at the hospital, Dr. Li Finnegan is the attending physician who is supposed to treat Sheila. However, Li has other plans for Sheila. While Li is ready to watch Sheila die in her hospital bed, Li’s son, Dr. Johnathan “Finn” Finnegan, enters the room. Now, this is where Li’s plan goes awry.

According to Fandom, Dr. Finn is the son of both Sheila Carter and Dr. Li Finnegan. While Sheila is his biological mother, Li is his legal adoptive mother, who has raised him from birth. Despite orders from his mother, Dr. Li, not to resuscitate the patient, Dr. Finn can’t watch Sheila die and begins the process of using a defibrillator on her heart and takes Sheila into surgery.

While Sheila has her son to thank for saving her life, she’s not out of the woods quite yet. With her history, she’s likely planning to escape the hospital to avoid prison for her past crimes. Sheila’s no stranger to evading the law as she’s been successful in staying hidden before. However, her current health conditions will likely make this Houdini act harder to pull off.

A little help from her old pal Deacon may be just what Sheila Carter needs to make a hasty exit out of Los Angeles.

Fans have been enjoying the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless for decades, and it doesn’t come as a surprise. The storylines are intriguing, the characters are entertaining, and the show overall is about as iconic as can be. The daughter of the show’s creator, Lauralee Bell, knows that The Young and the Restless is something special.

The show’s creator never saw an end to the series

The show’s creator, William Bell, was undoubtedly proud of the legacy he created. According to Deadline, he died in 2005, and his daughter says he never saw The Young and the Restless as having an end.

When Bell was asked in an interview if she had conversations with her father about how long it could last, she said, “He wouldn’t have seen an end. He always felt like if he established these really strong core characters … specifically two families from totally different backgrounds … he would have endless stories. I think he always felt like he could spin webs and bring in a person here and there to help prolong the show.”

Although her father never envisioned his creation ending, Bell says she knows it will happen.

In the same interview, Lauralee was asked how she felt about the future of The Young and the Restless. Her reply? “I can’t even let my brain go there. One day it will come to an end. I’m thrilled that we are at 50. That is a huge accomplishment to celebrate. I guess I’m like my dad. I don’t want to even think about the end, although I’m extremely realistic and understand that it may happen.”

Bell knows that The Young and the Restless won’t last forever because of the competition on cable and streaming. When the show first premiered, there were fewer options than today. According to Bell, “I stepped away and started doing other things just because it was fun for me. So I have a pile of show concepts if Y&R ends. It would just be like, ‘OK, what’s next?’ But I hope that won’t happen soon. I kind of hope we go a little bit back in time where people ask things like, ‘172 options on TV?’ That’s just too much. I just want 10!”

Like Bell, fans wish the show could last forever, but they have to be just as realistic as she is.

Eric Braeden has played Victor Newman on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless for over 40 years. The actor has won many awards for his work on the show. But before he tried out for the part of Victor Newman, Braeden didn’t even know what a soap opera was. Since then, though, he has grown to love and respect daytime TV.

And while he greatly respects the soap opera business, Braeden is aware that soaps aren’t always seen in the best light. As such, the soap veteran took offense with former Y&R co-star Eva Longoria’s reaction to a clip of her work on the CBS soap.

Longoria started her acting career on The Young and the Restless playing Isabella Braña. In a March 20 interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace, the Flamin’ Hot star was shown a clip of one of her most memorable moments from the CBS soap opera. After the clip ended, Longoria admitted that the pay for being a soap opera actor was so low that she had to supplement her income by working as a headhunter at a temp agency.

She said, “When I got The Young and the Restless, it didn’t pay enough for me to live off being an actor.”

Longoria then went on to explain that she would hide being a soap opera actor because she didn’t think her clients would want a “dumb actress” handling their accounts. She continued, “I was like, don’t tell anybody I’m on that show. Because I was, you know, still making more money on my day job.”

Braeden was quite offended by Longoria’s response in the interview. In a series of tweets, the soap opera veteran wrote, “Eva Longoria, you just made derogatory remarks about daytime actors! You simply weren’t good enough to survive the pressures of this medium! You were very lucky to get on that ‘housewife’ show! You did one [episode] in 8-12 days, with mediocre but salacious dialogue! Our actresses would run rings around you!! And they did then!! From Robert De Niro to whoever they all are, many of them started in the medium you denigrate! It shows a complete lack of class!!”

And after being criticized for exaggerating his reaction to Longoria’s comments, Braeden wrote, “The whole tenor of that segment was one of embarrassment about her stint in Y&R.” He went on to remark that it pisses him off when people who have not succeeded in the daytime-TV medium or who are unfamiliar with it make derogatory comments about it.

This wasn’t the first time the Y&R star has voiced his opinion on soap opera actors being disrespected. After decades in the entertainment industry, Braeden believes that daytime soap actors are some of the most talented and hardworking people in the business.

In May 2022, the 81-year-old appeared on General Hospital star Maurice Benard’s State of Mind podcast, where the two addressed several issues. When the conversation got to The Young and the Restless, Braeden expressed his strong views about soap opera acting.

When asked how it felt to have the same job for so long, Braeden explained that he had to work hard to accept the medium. “When I came in, at first, I loathed it,” he said. “The amount of dialogue, the speed at which they worked, and the lack of respect.”

The Y&R vet said he wants daytime actors and the general public to appreciate the work that soap stars do. “What you and I do on a daily basis is the hardest job for an actor in this town,” he told Benard.

The Bold and the Beautiful has seen its fair share of comings and goings over the years. RJ Forrester was last seen by fans in 2018 when he left to attend boarding school. His return to the popular daytime soap has been hinted at for a few months.

According to Deadline, Ridge, who was last portrayed by actor Anthony Turpel, was greatly missed by fans. Millions of viewers are ecstatic to hear that Ridge “RJ” Forrester will return to the show.

Who is taking over the role of RJ?

According to Yahoo! Sports, the role of RJ will be taken over by Joshua Hoffman. Hoffman is the fifth actor to play the character. The role has been previously portrayed by actors Mace Coronel, Jack Horan, and Ridge Perkett.

The Movie Database reports that Hoffman has had roles on shows such as Criminal Minds, Talia in the Kitchen, and Girl Meets World. Fans will be interested to know that the multitalented star is also an accomplished pianist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Also known for his work in Shameless and Code Black, the actor’s first episode will air on April 21.

Why did RJ leave in 2018?

It’s been a few years since RJ was seen on the show, so what happened to the beloved character?

According to The List, RJ has been an important figure on The Bold and the Beautiful as the son of Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan. As a child, the character was often spoken about, but not seen that much. In 2016, he came to the Forrester mansion to try to reunite his parents.

At the same time, RJ started a relationship with Coco Spectra. She just happened to be the great-niece of a family rival, Sally Spectra, who had previously stolen Forrester fashion designs.

After convincing his dad to hire his girlfriend as an intern, it was discovered that confidential sketches were being turned into designs at the rival company, Spectra Fashions. Even so, RJ defended his girlfriend.

While the relationship continued, RJ’s character left the show to return to boarding school in Europe. Although he has not actually been seen since he left, RJ was mentioned on a few rare occasions.

After not being seen for several years, the excitement is building over the return of RJ. Deadline reports that the character is now making his long-overdue return to Los Angeles as a young adult with a career on the rise.

Naturally, RJ will get caught up in his family’s drama, and according to Celebrating the Soaps, there are several possible storylines. The character may get tangled in the complicated love lives of both his parents, and it is also possible that he may get to know Ridge’s ex-wife and Brooke’s former rival-turned-BFF, Taylor Hayes.

SoapDirt reports that RJ may also be back in town for his mom’s health crisis after she missed a doctor’s appointment. His return may help set up a new storyline for Brooke.

We also have to consider that there will likely be a romantic storyline for RJ, and fans can certainly expect to see some drama with Thomas and Hope. No matter what happens, fans can’t wait to see RJ return.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the actor said, “Working at ‘General Hospital’ has been such an important part of my life. I just want everyone to know how grateful I am to be part of such an amazing community.”

Lipton will be rejoining the soap opera cast in the summer when he and his character are on a semester break.

Lipton’s huge fan base supported the actor’s plans to leave General Hospital temporarily, and many took to social media to share their thoughts. Local Today reports that one person wrote, “I will miss William Lipton General Hospital, but I now believe Cameron’s departure is for the best part of the character. Sharon Newman’s daughter Cassie Newman died on ‘The Young and the Restless’

Sharon has endured many heartaches as one of The Young and the Restless‘ beloved heroines. Most of Sharon’s problems stem from her on-again, off-again relationship with her ex-husband Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). But Sharon’s also endured having her daughter Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) kidnapped, arrested for murder, and diagnosed with breast cancer.

However, Sharon’s most gut-wrenching moment came in 2005 when her daughter Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) died. Cassie sustained injuries in a car wreck after driving Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) home. Although Cassie’s injuries were severed, it looked like she’d pull through. But Sharon and Nick watched in anguish as Cassie flatlined.

Sharon Case was devastated by Cassie Newman’s death

Cassie’s death is one of the most shocking and emotional moments in The Young and the Restless history. Her death was not only heartbreaking for fans but also for her onscreen mom. In a recent interview with The Locher Room, Case reflected on hearing the news that Cassie would be killed.

Case was in then the hair and makeup room when she got the information. The news was a shock to Case and Grimes. ” “She was devastated I was devastated. We all were. It was hard.”

Now that Case knew of Cassie’s fate, she, Grimes, and Morrow had to put on a brave face when preparing for their final goodbye. “We probably knew about it for three or four weeks before we shot the final scenes.” Sharon and Nick crying over Cassie’s hospital bead will be an unforgettable moment in soap history.

Sharon Newman gained another daughter on ‘The Young and the Restless’

Case kept in touch with Grimes after her departure from The Young and the Restless. Grimes returned for appearances as Cassie’s ghost to offer comfort to her parents. In January 2014, Grimes returned in the role of Mariah Copeland.

Mariah is a Cassie lookalike hired by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to gaslight Sharon. Later Nick does some research and discovers Mariah is Cassie’s long-lost twin that Sharon never knew. Sharon and Mariah’s relationship starts off icy, but the mother and daughter eventually bond.

Mariah is the opposite of Cassie, with her fun side and her opinionated attitude. While Mariah is a strong woman, sometimes she needs the support and advice of her mom. Now that Mariah and her wife, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), are parents; Sharon is thrilled. As the couple navigates life with their baby, they’ll lean on Sharon for help.

Almost every soap opera has a resident “bad boy.” On The Bold and the Beautiful, Thomas Forrester is just that.

As the son of Ridge and Taylor, Thomas has always been known as a troublemaker. He has had several storylines in which he got himself into unfavorable situations. Now, fans are left wondering — will Thomas ever really be redeemed?

Portrayed by actor Matthew Atkinson since 2019, Thomas is one of the most reckless characters on The Bold and the Beautiful, according to Soap Hub. He has committed several crimes, such as drinking an entire bottle of vodka while still underage.

He has also done some frightening things, such as blowing up Rick Forrester’s car and attempting to burn down his home. Thomas has told many lies to different people and even sent fake texts to Brooke’s dad, letting him think they had slept together.

As if that weren’t enough, Thomas has been seen punching his own father right in the face. He has tried desperately to get full control of Forrester Creations. He is known as a chaotic, scheming person who rationalizes his actions with an “ends justify the means” outlook.

The List reports that others know they must watch out if they don’t want to fall victim to Thomas’s antics. Everyone is well aware that he is capable of some pretty unbelievable behavior since he can be reckless when it comes to getting what he wants.

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ fans have wanted Thomas to have a love interest for years

There is one way in which The Bold and the Beautiful fans are rooting for Thomas. They have hoped for years to see him have a love interest since he hasn’t had a serious relationship in quite a while despite two marriages. While it seems that most characters on the show always seem to be involved in one romantic situation after another — sometimes even multiple situations at a time — Thomas is the exception.

Fans are also hoping that Thomas will have a more prominent role in his son Douglas’ life. According to Soaps, Atkinson himself has voiced his own opinion on the subject, saying that Thomas “knows he’s made mistakes. He knows he had an unhealthy obsession with Hope, which bled into his relationship with his son. Plus, his brain bleed made him downright unstable as he started listening to that Hope doll. But he’s made it past that and has been improving himself.”

Will Thomas ever really be redeemed?

Even though it seems that Thomas is trying to change, many are wondering if Thomas can ever really be redeemed. Fans took to social media to say what they were thinking, with one person posting, “When does the show finally rehabilitate Thomas? The character has been sacrificed for four years for lope. Why must he only be used as angst for them?” and another replying that “They’d have no story otherwise.”

It appears the show has decided that Thomas will always be a somewhat controversial character. According to Soaps In Depth, Atkinson says, “I think that Thomas is sort of an anti-hero. He’s a guy who still has goodness in his heart and really, really struggles. I don’t think he’s all that bad.”

While Thomas has been trying extremely hard to redeem himself, he just may never be able to shake that bad-boy persona.
