In a recent interview, the actor decided to make a pretty controversial statement. Patterson revealed that, unlike fans of the beloved show, he did not hate his character’s season 6 storyline.

In Gilmore Girls Season 6, Luke and Lorelai Gilmore get back together and plan to marry. They were headed for the altar when a 12-year-old showed up in Luke’s diner, proclaiming he might be her father.

Luke later learns that he did, in fact, father the child with a long-forgotten love interest. While Luke built a relationship with April Nardini, he inadvertently iced Lorelai out, causing a significant rift. April, her mother Anna Nardini, and Luke’s behavior led to a called-off engagement and the end of his romance with Lorelai.

Gilmore Girls fans almost universally agree that the storyline was horrible, but Scott Patterson doesn’t think so. In an interview with ScreenRant, Patterson revealed that he enjoyed the storyline.

“Sometimes you’ve got to piss off the fans,’ Patterson said. “It’s a risk you take, but the payoff is so great. It doesn’t ruin anything. It just sort of deepens the sort of comeback that’s required.”

Patterson went on to praise Vanessa Marano, the actor who took on the role of April Nardini, insisting she was so impressive as as young actor. He said he wished fans hadn’t been so hard on her back then.

While Patterson understands why the storyline didn’t sit well with fans, he insists it was a risk the show had to take. He told the publication that despite how distasteful fans found it, he thinks the storyline deepened Luke and Lorelai’s “comeback.”

Patterson makes a valid point. He might have stumbled upon why Gilmore Girls fans hate the storyline so much, even after many rewatches. Patterson argues that there is a payoff in the end because Luke and Lorelai had to claw their way back. He might be correct, but he’s missing one crucial factor: fans never actually go to see that.

The show’s cancelation was a surprise, meaning many storylines weren’t completely wrapped up. Luke and Lorelai’s love story was still very open-ended when the series wrapped. Sure, they seemed to be contemplating working things out, but they hadn’t started yet when fans last left them. When fans did reconnect with them during Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, they had already been back together for years. The show’s sudden cancelation made fans miss out on the “payoff” of adding Arpil Nardini and her meddling mother to the storyline.

In the trailer for With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex prepares food and shares lifestyle tips and tricks with celebrity friends Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer. An item belonging to Prince Harry’s late mother is visible among these interactions.

Meghan wears Princess Diana’s gold Cartier Tank Française watch throughout the trailer. It is unclear when Harry first gifted the family heirloom to Meghan, but she was first seen wearing it in early 2020. The same model currently retails for upwards of $22,000, though given its historical value, Diana’s watch is likely worth much more.

Diana’s timepiece is the second Cartier watch Meghan owns. She purchased her own yellow gold and steel watch from the brand, which cost more than $5,000, as an heirloom piece.

“I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch. When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season — which, at the time, felt like such a milestone — I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version,” Markle told Hello! in 2015. “I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them,” she said.

When does ‘The Night Agent’ Season 2 come out?

Get excited fans of The Night Agent because new episodes begin streaming soon. The Night Agent Season 2 comes out on Jan. 23, 2025. That means in just a matter of weeks—just over 14 days at the time of writing—Peter will be back in action and on a new adventure.

Just like The Night Agent Season 1, all 10 episodes will be available to watch when the new installment premieres. In short, cancel any plans for the weekend and get ready to binge-watch the entire season.

What is ‘The Night Agent’ Season 2 about?

Gone are Peter’s days of waiting for the phone to ring. Now he’s trying to make it as a Night Agent, which comes with a lot more danger. Per Tudum, the latest season of the show, which is based on the novel by author Matthew Quirk, picks up where season 1 left off. “Working in the secretive organization Night Action in Season 2 will push Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply,” according to the outlet.

Peter questions those around him, even telling his love interest Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) in the trailer that he “cannot trust anyone.” After all, there’s the possibility that leaked American intelligence is being sold to the highest bidder. Sound familiar fans of Black Doves?

As for what’s in store for Peter and Rose romantically, creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan teased it’ll be touched on in upcoming episodes. “That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in Season 2,” Ryan said. “What does Peter getting on this plane and going somewhere (presumably overseas to enter into some new wild adventure) mean, with Rose going back to California to try to pursue her Silicon Valley dreams again?”

Is ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3 happening?

Good news, fans of The Night Agent! A third season is currently in the works. Netflix greenlit the political thriller for an early season renewal in October 2024 (via Variety). So, that means Peter’s story isn’t over with season 2.

“We’re so excited that our fans will get to watch Season 2 of The Night Agent in early 2025, and we’ve been hard at work writing Season 3 to deliver more breathless Peter Sutherland Night Action adventures to our rabid audience,” Ryan previously told Tudum.

Meanwhile, Basso sees “a lot of storytelling opportunities for potential seasons down the line” with Peter’s new status as a Night Agent. So, depending on how seasons two and three go, viewers could be a long road ahead for the show.

The Night Agent Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 2 premieres on Jan. 23, 2025.

There’s been a ton of buzz around Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show that is set to debut on Netflix. It’s the duchess’s first solo project for the streaming giant and already she has outperformed her husband Prince Harry’s previous project.

In December 2024, the Duke of Sussex’s docuseries POLO about the sport was released. The trailer that came out a few weeks prior on Nov. 21, garnered 197,000 views, 1,400 likes, and just over 3,800 comments. The show itself failed to reach Netflix’s top 10. Meanwhile, the trailer for With Love, Meghan, which was dropped on Jan. 2, has surpassed 1.2 million views already with 15,000 likes and more than 45,000 comments.

But will the success of the trailer for Meghan’s eight-part cooking and gardening series translate to lots of views? At least one commentator is predicting it won’t for a specific reason.

Warning about why ‘With Love, Meghan’ will ‘fail’

It seems that just about everyone has an opinion about how Meghan’s new series will do. Commentator Kevin O’Sullivan believes that the show is doomed to “fail” because of what the duchess does not understand.

According to the show’s description, the “inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.”

Speaking on the latest episode of the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast O’Sullivan said: “What she’s offering the public, you know, the new Meghan, this is the new invention is pathetic. [This is] a stupid show where she is baking cakes for her mates in California, wearing Cartier designer jewelry and flashy clothes.

“What she doesn’t understand is, in order to be successful in show business, in order to make successful programs and successful movies [is] you have to make them not boring. That’s the whole point of entertainment, don’t bore people … this is nonsense and it’s boring. It’s really, really boring [and] therefore it will fail.”

Daily Mail columnist Richard Eden was told that the rest of the royals are not dreading Meghan’s show at all and actually hope it will be a success.

“Everyone wants it to be a success. And that’s because, if it is, she and Harry won’t need to exploit their royal connections again,” Eden wrote. “The last thing anyone wants is another Spare, this time from Meghan.”

With Love, Meghan will mark the fifth program attached to the Sussexes’ for Netflix. Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and POLO have all flopped. Only Harry & Meghan, which chronicled the couple’s lives as royals and their exit, was a hit for the streaming platform.

‘American Primeval’ Explores 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre

Netflix’s newest drama draws inspiration from one of the bloodiest episodes in American history. American Primeval is a gritty historical Western from director/executive producer Peter Berg. It takes the Mountain Meadows Massacre as its jumping-off point. The show opens with the horrifying 1857 attack and uses it to explore the “violent collision of culture, religion, and community” on the American frontier.

‘American Primeval’ draws from real-life history

American Primeval is fiction. But the Mountain Meadows Massacre was a real event – one with which many viewers might be unfamiliar.

The massacre took place on Sept. 11, 1857, in Utah Territory. Mormons led by Brigham Young (portrayed by Kim Coates in the Netflix show) had claimed the region for their own after being driven out of Illinois. Young served as the territory’s governor, which he ruled as a theocracy. That led to conflict with President James Buchanan, who wanted to assert federal power in Utah. In 1857, Buchanan ordered federal troops to the territory, alarming Young and his followers.

Caught in the middle of this simmering conflict were wagon trains of emigrants traveling from the eastern U.S. to California. When one group from Arkansas, the Fancher Party, made their way through southern Utah, the Mormon Militia attacked, along with some members of the Paiute tribe.

More than 100 people were killed in the Mountain Meadows Massacre

The Fancher party fought back when attacked, leading to a stalemate. After a few days, the Mormons offered the emigrants a truce. But rather than allowing them safe passage, they turned on the members of the wagon train, slaughtering more than 100 people, including women and children. The Mormon militia members then attempted to cover up their role in the attack, instead blaming it solely on the Paiutes. Ultimately, just one man, John D. Lee, was convicted for his role in the massacre. He was executed in 1877.

Young was the leader of the Mormons at the time of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, but the degree to which he knew about or was involved with the attack is a matter of historical debate. The show explores the complexity of Young’s role in the settlement of Utah. Coates said in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum that he tried to craft a nuanced portrayal of a complex and controversial historical figure.

“As an actor, you have to make choices,” he said. “Things start at the top and filter down, and we mustn’t shy away from both the nastiness and the goodness in our history. And this particular story has some of both, and it has some lessons that we can and should learn from. But boy, it was tough to survive in 1857. I don’t know how anyone did.”

For Berg, the fictional story told in American Primeval was a way to explore America’s difficult history.

“You get a little bit closer to some of the origin stories of how our country was formed,” he told the New York Times. “Those origin stories are very violent.”

American Primeval premieres Jan. 9 on Netflix.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that the trailer for Meghan Markle‘s new Netflix lifestyle show has been released. Reactions to the one-minute, 40-second clip have been mixed with the Duchess of Sussex’s fans declaring that they “can’t wait” to watch it, while those who aren’t fans of Meghan are giving it a hard pass.

But as opinions were being aired out, some eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Meghan’s ideas were very similar to another part-Nigerian woman who married a British aristocrat and also had a cooking show.

Who is Emma, Marchioness of Bath?

Emma Clare Thynn (nee McQuiston), Marchioness of Bath also known as Emma Weymouth was born on March 26, 1986, in London. She is the daughter of a Nigerian father, Chief Oladipo Jadesimi, who is an oil billionaire and the executive chairman of Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Company, and her mother, Suzanna McQuiston, who is an English socialite.

Emma married Ceawlin Thynn, 8th Marquess of Bath and became the first Black marchioness in British history. The couple welcomed two children together. Their oldest John Alexander Ladi Thynn, Viscount Weymouth was born in October 2014 followed by another son, Lord Henry Richard Isaac Thynn, in December 2016.

Emma studied art history at University College London and classical acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She’s done modeling as well and walked in the runway show for Dolce & Gabbana. In addition, she worked as a fashion editor for a handful of publications.

Emma also has a love for cooking. The marchioness founded the food and lifestyle brand Emma’s Kitchen in 2015 and launched her show in which she did live demonstrations. In 2024, she competed on Season 19 of Celebrity MasterChef.

While you may not have seen Emma’s cooking show, it appears Meghan has and took quite a few ideas. That’s according to the many X users who responded to Netflix Nigeria’s post for the With Love, Meghan trailer.

“This woman has no original idea!” one person posted, adding, “This is a copy of Emma’s Kitchen.”

A second person chimed in: “Meghan is caught copying Lady Emma. Netflix please give Lady Emma, The Marchioness of Bath her own cooking show. She also participated in Masterchef UK!! She’s Nigerian, she’s beautiful, genuine and talented cook. She’s an all around family-oriented woman.”

And another user shared side-by-side photos of the Duchess of Sussex even wearing outfits very similar to the Marchioness of Bath and writing that Emma is “stunning, stylish, classy, and not lying about being Nigerian. She’s also the creator Markle stole content from.”

Moreover, the Daily Mail blared a headline that read: “So where DID you get your ideas from Meghan? Viewers spot all the scenes in Duchess’ new cookery show that feel familiar — from Marchioness of Bath to ladybug Bruschetta and Kate.”

The outlet suggested that not only did Harry’s wife rip off ideas from Emma but also her sister-in-law, Kate, when it comes to beekeeping as one viewer said: “You know who keeps bees? Princess Catherine at her home in Amner Hall. It’s one of her passions. Meghan has never had an original idea ever.”

The actor, who spent seven seasons portraying Luke Danes on the iconic dramedy, recently implored fans to “manifest” another revival. Patterson, apparently, was so attached to his character that he even advocated for his own spinoff series. There is a good reason it didn’t happen, though.

Gilmore Girls ended in 2007, much to the chagrin of fans and the cast. For years, fans have always wondered why a true spinoff attempt was never made. It wasn’t for lack of trying. During a recent chat with E! News, Scott Patterson revealed he lobbied for a Gilmore Girls spinoff focused on Luke’s Diner as the series was coming to an end. The network didn’t bite, but for a good reason.

Patterson revealed that a former Warner Bros. executive, Peter Roth, shot down the idea of a spinoff and explained why it wouldn’t work. Patterson recalled Roth telling him that the vibrant residents of Stars Hollow made Gilmore Girls what it was, and focusing on one character, like Luke, would leave fans wanting for the familiarity of the other residents.

There were attempts to make a new show happen, though

It might come as a surprise, but there was one serious attempt to launch a Gilmore Girls spinoff series and another discussion about a spinoff. Neither came to fruition. The series included a backdoor pilot if you look carefully enough.

In season 3, Jess Mariano leaves Stars Hollow when he learns he will not graduate on time. He travels to California to reunite with his father, who left him and his mother when Jess was just a baby. If we are being honest, The episode feels a bit contrived and out of place.

A Gilmore Girls writer, Stan Zimmerman, told People that the spinoff never got off the ground for various reasons. In September, Zimmerman said that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls, brought Jess out to Venice because she loved the area and wanted a completely different vibe for the potential spinoff. That decision may have been the reason it didn’t work out. While Zimmerman claims the spinoff never “gelled,” several sources claim the cost of filming on location was a dealbreaker.

‘Squid Game’ Creator Hints Season 3 Might Arrive Much Sooner Than Season 2

The Netflix series Squid Game recently released its season 2, and many might’ve considered it worth the wait. Similar to its previous season, which debuted in 2021, season 2 enjoyed similar critical acclaim. And fortunately for fans, the wait between seasons 2 and 3 won’t nearly be that long.

Squid Game’s season 1 quickly became a global phenomenon after it hit Netflix. But despite the show’s explosive popularity, its creator Dong-Hyuk didn’t see the show continuing after the twist-ending to season 1. Although its finale left room for more seasons, the main character’s arc seemed to have come to a conclusive end. However, Dong-Hyuk eventually realized that the series had more to tell past its first season.

“I do remember when I was finishing up my scripts for the first season, towards the end, I did have this vague idea,” Hwang told Entertainment Weekly. “And I got to thinking about creating seasons 2 and 3, firstly because of the huge success of season 1 as well as there being just so much anticipation and expectation for the story to further develop by the fans. So I revisited that little bit of a possibility that I had left towards the end of season 1 after it was created, and we wanted to do a further story.”

The fact that the rest of the series hadn’t already been planned might’ve played a part in the long way between seasons 1 and 2. But Hwang implied to the show’s fans that the wait for season 3 won’t be nearly as long.

“At this point, anything I might say is going to be a spoiler, so I want to be cautious. But what I can say is, after Season 2 launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year,” Hwang told Variety.

It helped that Hwang already has a good idea where season 3 is headed, having worked on it in conjunction with season 2.

“When I first wrote the story of Seasons 2 and 3 it was one long story arc,” Hwang said. “And I was originally planning to write this story across a span of about eight to nine episodes, but once I finished the story, it came to over 10 episodes, which I thought was too long to contain in a single season. And so I wanted to have an adequate point where I could give closure as a second season and then move on with the third.”

Why ‘Squid Game’ will end with season 3

Squid Game’s latest season will be its last according to its creator. Unlike with season 1, where Hwang felt he had unfinished business, the showrunner felt he said everything he needed to with its latest episodes.

“The desire to put a closure to the story that I began to tell arose after we worked on season 1,” Hwang said. “In terms of why did I decide to end the story with season 3, I think that the story I wanted to tell came to a full closure at the end of season 3. The story that I both wanted to tell and that I am capable of telling through Gi-hun, it has been told with season 3.”

On another note, Hwang confided that developing the hit show has taken a physical toll on him. At one point, he’d even lost six teeth working on the series. So Hwang can’t help but feel a bit relieved knowing that his show is coming to an end.

“I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired. In a way, I have to say, I’m so sick of Squid Game,” Hwang said in a separate Variety interview. “I’m so sick of my life making something, promoting something. So I’m not thinking about my next project right now. I’m just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix.”

Patterson isn’t shy about his desire to return to Stars Hollow. During his interview with Time Out, Patterson said he likes to assume it will happen eventually. He also said fans can help by doing the same. He is encouraging everyone who loves Gilmore Girls to help “manifest” a second revival.

Scott Patterson isn’t the only person associated with the show hoping for more

Scott Patterson isn’t the only person associated with the beloved series who does not rule out the possibility of returning for another revival. Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop, and Keiko Agena have all said they are open to potentially returning. Graham famously portrayed Lorelai Gilmore, while Bishop took on the role of Emily Gilmore. Agena portrayed Rory Gilmore’s best friend, Lane Kim.

The show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is also open to the idea. In 2022, Sherman-Palladino, who has been hard at work on several other shows in recent years, told Us Weekly that a second revival is not off the table. In fact, she suggested it could be in the works eventually, as long as the “stars align.” Sherman-Palladino even seems to have ideas for a second Gilmore Girls revival. She told the publication that she missed writing for Lauren Graham and could conjure a story over lunch with the actor.

The show’s stars and the show creator all seem to be on board, but plenty of details still need to be worked out. Where a second revival would live if it were ever filmed is a bit of a mystery. While the first revival is available on Netflix, a second revival could be housed elsewhere. Insiders have wondered if Warner Bros. will eventually bring the series to Max. Right now, the original series can be found on both Hulu and Netflix. The revival is exclusive to Netflix. That could change in 2026, though.

For the actors who spent years playing some of Gilmore Girls‘ most beloved characters, the stars are aligning more than ever. Gilmore Girls wrapped its original run in 2007, but the actors from the series are forever tied to their iconic roles.

They maintain relationships with each other off-screen years after they wrapped up the series, too. Over the last several months, actors from the beloved show have been reconnecting both on-screen and off. We’ve collected all of the times they seemed to reconnect in 2024.

Lauren Graham was on hand to support Kelly Bishop

Life has taken the stars of Gilmore Girls in very different directions, but they still support each other when needed. Lauren Graham did just that in September. She appeared as a surprise moderator for a discussion about Kelly Bishop’s memoir, The Third Gilmore Girl.

Bishop announced Graham as a surprise guest during the 92NY event, much to the delight of fans who turned out to hear Bishop discuss her life and acting career. During the event, Graham and Bishop remembered their time playing on-screen family members. Bishop portrayed Lorelai Gilmore’s mother, Emily Gilmore, for all seven seasons. But unlike Emily and Lorelai Gilmore, Bishop and Graham always appear to be in sync.

In late November, Graham, Scott Patterson, and Sean Gunn kicked the rumor mill into high gear when they all took to Instagram to post about Gilmore Girls. While fans didn’t get the revival they hoped for, they saw the three reconnect in Stars Hollow for a Walmart commercial. The trio reprised their roles for the 30-second holiday advertisement.

Graham famously played Lorelai Gilmore in the much-discussed ad. Scott Patterson portrayed Lorelai’s love interest, Luke Danes. Sean Gunn is best known for playing Stars Hollow’s most eccentric citizen, Kirk Gleason. He appeared as Kirk in the commercial, too. All three reprised their roles in the 2016 Netflix revival.

Lauren Graham and Danny Strong posted a picture together

Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop planned their New York City meetup, and obviously, the Walmart commercial was planned, too. A different, more impromptu reunion happened earlier this month, though. This week, Danny Strong took to Instagram to share a selfie with Graham. Strong revealed that he and Graham had run into each other and took a few minutes to snap a photo. He did not reveal where they happened to see each other.

Strong played Doyle McMasters, Rory Gilmore’s editor and Paris Geller’s longtime love, in the iconic series. He returned to reprise his role in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. While Graham and Strong didn’t have many scenes together, it looks like the actors have remained friendly.

While it was nice to see Strong and Graham spending some time together, it would be better to see them together on a Warner Bros. set. While a second revival season has never been announced, hopefully Amy Sherman-Palladino has at least one more story to tell.
