Over time, though, a number of issues crept into their marriage, ultimately leading to their divorce. But for the most part, they have remained on good terms.

Now, in a first look at their new HGTV show The Flip Off, which also stars Tarek’s wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, Christina opened up in a tearful moment with her ex-husband about her most recent ex, Josh Hall.

Christina and Tarek have been through their share of drama, but the exes have always come together to support their two children, Taylor and Brayden. The kids have grown up on TV, though Tarek and Christina haven’t kept them in the spotlight. While filming The Flip Off, though, Tarek recognized something was wrong with Christina — and when he asked her if she was alright, she broke down.

In a new clip, Christina says, “Josh and I officially split up … Things with Josh have been bad for a long time.”

But it’s when she brings up her kids that people realize how serious the situation has become. “The kids literally asked me to leave,” Christina told Tarek. “They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around?”

Tarek and Christina have remained a team despite their break up, but this was the first time the two have had any kind of heart-to-heart on television regarding their own split. In the same conversation, Tarek admitted that he bore some responsibility for their marriage falling apart in 2016.

When things first fell apart between the Christina and Tarek, the exes weren’t on great terms. However, after Tarek met Heather Rae Young, to whom he is now married, his relationship with Christina seemed to improve. Christina and Heather are now friends, and Heather considers herself to be a “bonus mom” to Christina and Tarek’s two children.

The three even became close enough to film a show together, and Christina revealed in a recent interview that Josh was actually the worst of the four when it came to filming. She said the show was much “easier” to do without him.

Thousands of customers who signed up for expensive real estate seminars endorsed by HGTV stars are getting checks from the FTC.

The Federal Trade Commission is issuing refunds to more than 25,000 people who signed up for training programs from Zurixx, LLC. The seminars promised to teach them how to use the company’s system to make fast money flipping houses.

Advertisements for Zurixx’s seminars often featured the stars of real estate-focused reality shows, including Tarek and Christina El Moussa (now Christina Hall) from HGTV’s Flip or Flop, Hilary Farr from HGTV’s Love It or List It, and Peter Souhleris and Dave Seymour from A&E’s Flipping Boston. People were invited to attend a free event that was really a pitch for a three-day introductory seminary that cost $1,997. Attendees were then urged to purchase more courses and services that could cost up to $41,297.

In September 2019, the FTC and the Utah Department of Commerce Division of Consumer Protection sued Zurixx and its owners, Cristopher Cannon, James Carlson, and Jeffrey Spangler. A settlement was reached in February 2022. In addition to the monetary judgment, the defendants are permanently barred from selling any real estate or business coaching services.

“Many victims will finally be getting some justice. Thousands who were coached into fraudulent investments by Zurixx owners will receive checks from this substantial settlement,” said Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes in a statement.

Affected customers should begin receiving refund checks in August. They should cash the checks within 90 days, the FTC says.

In 2016, ABC News reported on complaints about real estate seminars affiliated with Hall and El Moussa. One man said that he’d signed up for the “Success, Path, Education” seminar (which was run by Zurixx) thinking the pair would be at the event. But the HGTV stars did not attend the seminar in person.

“If you think you’re getting Tarek and Christina, you’re not going to get them,” Doug Stephens said.

“You’re going to get some sales pitch the entire time,” he said. Stephens added that he was “aggressively pushed” to buy more courses.

Hall, who was still married to El Moussa at the time, defended the seminars.

“I stand by our product,” she said. “It’s our tools, it’s our system. It’s what Tarek and I do. I’ve only heard very minimal complaints.”

Hall admitted that she typically did not attend seminars in person unless they were close to her home in Southern California. But she insisted that both she and El Moussa were heavily involved in the program.”

“This year, we’ll do over 100 houses,” she said. “This is our program. We meet each and every coach, we do training with them one-on-one. Tarek does tons of training via webinar.”

Christina Hall is officially calling it quits on her marriage. Her soon-to-be ex-husband, Joshua Hall, has filed paperwork to dissolve their marriage after just over two years. While Joshua Hall was the first to petition the courts, reports suggest Christina has also filed her own paperwork to dissolve the marriage. In his petition, Hall cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

According to TMZ, Joshua Hall’s petition asks the court to grant him alimony and the rights to all TV projects the duo has worked on since their marriage. Joshua Hall worked in real estate after a law enforcement career before meeting Christina, but he was not a TV personality. Christine Hall had a long-standing TV career before the marriage. They do not share any children.

A look at Christina Hall’s marriage history

This is not Christine Hall’s first stop in divorce court. The mother of three has been married three times. Christina Hall first rose to fame while married to Tarek El Moussa. The duo met in 2005 but didn’t start dating until 2006. They married in 2009 and welcomed two children together before ultimately settling their divorce in 2018.

That same year, Hall married her second husband, Ant Anstead. Hall and Anstead, a TV personality, began dating in 2017. They welcomed a son together before announcing their split in 2020. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.

After splitting from Anstead, Hall began a whirlwind romance with Joshua Hall. The couple married in April 2022 after about a year of dating. Everything was going well between the pair before the sudden split announcement. It is unclear what soured between the two, but it apparently happened relatively recently. Joshua Hall listed their date of separation as July 8, just one week ago.

Interestingly, Christina Hall sat down with E! News earlier this month to discuss her “strong marriage” to Hall. She told the publication that communication was key in her union with Hall.

‘Good Bones’ Star Mina Starsiak Hawk Reveals Why She Quit the HGTV Show

HGTV star Mina Starsiak Hawk is opening up about her decision to walk away from Good Bones. Her home renovation show came to an end in October 2023 after eight seasons. In a recent episode of her podcast, she said she’d reached a point where it just wasn’t possible for her to continue filming the show and maintain her mental health.

Good Bones followed Hawk and her mother Karen Laine as they renovated homes in Indianapolis. The show – and Hawk – had a massive following. And at first, Hawk was thrilled with the experience of making her HGTV series.

“I have loved, for the most part, making TV,” Hawk said on Mina AF.

Yet there were challenges.

“The last two seasons were really, really hard, emotionally and mentally, financially and physically as well,” she said.

“The weight was all on me at that point … it was really wearing on me,” she added.

The ‘stakes were so high’ in the later seasons of ‘Good Bones’

Hawk realized that something had to change.

“I was trying to come up with a way to move forward that was more sustainable for me,” she said.

One issue was Hawk’s financial commitment to the increasingly costly and ambitious renovation projects.

“The stakes were so high,” she said. “It was all my money. It was my family’s money. It was my business’s success … It was all real, and it was getting to the point where I couldn’t handle the stakes, and I couldn’t handle the projects, and I couldn’t handle the risk.”

“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully explain or have people understand the situation and what it was doing to me,” she said.

Would she do another HGTV show?

Though making Good Bones was tough at the end, Hawk said she had no regrets about doing the show. She even says she’d be up for another series, but only if the fit was right. (Last year, she announced that a two-part special focusing on her renovation of her lake house would to air on HGTV later in 2024.)

“I would love to [make another show] if I could find a way to do it with a balance that was healthier,” she said.

“I just think it would be a really bad decision for me, like, mentally and emotionally, let alone financially, to kinda get back in that place,” Hawk added.

“There’s not enough money in the world to put me in the place I was a year ago, it was that bad,” she said. “I think that’s very hard for people to understand.”

Ex-HGTV Star Must Pay $10 Million for Real Estate Fraud

A former HGTV star is headed to the big house. Charles “Todd” Hill, of Los Gatos, Calif., has been sentenced to four years in jail for real estate and financial fraud. The former star of Flip It to Win It must also pay nearly $10 million in restitution to 11 victims, the Santa Clara County District Attorney said.

What did Charles “Todd” Hill do?

In September 2023, Hill, 58, was convicted of grand theft with aggravated white-collar enhancements. On April 16, he was sentenced to four years in jail. He was also ordered to pay $9.4 million in restitution and will serve 10 years on probation.

Hill was indicted in November 2019 after an investigation uncovered evidence of fraud, including scams that predated his time on HGTV. Among his crimes were diverting construction money for personal use. He also ran a Ponzi scheme where he took money investors gave him to buy homes and used it to fund a lavish lifestyle, including an apartment in San Francisco, hotels, vacations, and luxury cars. He hid the theft with fake balance sheets and fraudulently obtained loans.

One investor gave Hill $250,000 to remodel a home. But when he toured the property, he found it was a burnt-out shell and no work had been completed.

Hill’s victims who testified at the sentencing hearing said they were still suffering financial and professional damages from the fraud.

“Some see the huge amount of money in Silicon Valley real estate as a business opportunity,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “Others, unfortunately, see it as a criminal opportunity – and we will hold those people strictly accountable.”

Hill starred in HGTV’s ‘Flip It to Win It’

Hill starred in the short-lived HGTV house-flipping series Flip It to Win It, which aired for one season in 2014. It featured “five teams of expert flippers” who “bid against each other for abandoned houses sight unseen,” according to HGTV’s website.

“It’s a high-stakes hour in which three auctions are won, three houses are renovated and then all three houses go on the market for top dollar,” the description continues.

The show highlighted Hill’s business of buying run-down homes, fixing them up, and then selling them for a profit. But according to prosecutors, viewers weren’t getting the whole story. In reality, Hill spent millions on overbudget remodels, laundered profits, and pocketed millions in fraudulently obtained money.

At one point, Hill seemed to be poised to become a prominent HGTV personality. But his TV career fizzled out soon after Flip It to Win It debuted. In 2014, Max Keech, one of Hill’s investors, sued Hill, accusing him of scamming him out of $6 million. HGTV quickly scuttled plans for a second show that would have featured Hill called Think You Can Flip?, The Mercury News reported at the time.

“I am a very bad judge of character,” Keech told the paper. “I made a critical mistake in not looking over his shoulder. My money made him a celebrity. We started this before there was a TV show. He had the personality to do it.”
